Final Entry....

This is not the final entry for everyone who love blogging...my cough still not recovered yet and this few days try to make my cool down and talk less. i've a chance to see all my friends blog and I really feel that they all learned a lot from the course and a lot of reflection being posted every week. I was thinking how to become a critical thinker and always think more depth in other way. May be this is my personality and I can't really sit properly and make myself concentrate in the whole entire lesson.

What had I learned so far??? I learn how to think and evaluate other people work. Even I am not good enough but god always grant me with every step. Reflection is a very tough job for me because I am bot really like to flash back what had I learned, this might be my weakness point and need to change.

Everyone got their own opinion and perspective in learning. If you ask me what is the meaningful thing I have learned in class PXGT6308? My answer was learn how to interact with peers. The DE learner properly won't have such experience because hard to have a F2F session for them. I eppreacite the time with my leacturer and classmate because this is the only time we can share and chat about our opinion and problem. The second thing which captivate my interest was evaluate our classmate. Through the evaluation, we can learn 5w and 1H for people.

The knowledge which I gained through the class will be used in my secondary 3 student for the second semester. Actually my student were doing the presentation time by time but the problem is they never do reflection and evaluation towards their peers or classmate. So, I will be using the knowledge which I captivated in the class for my student now and in future.

Actually I have tested my student with the above method, that is student will be present a topic, then themself need to do the evaluation towards their peers. But I noticed that they are not really sincere in giving their opinion. Anyway, all this need practice and need to work it out. So that the student will become more critical and critic in all kind of situation.

Bad day

I was coughing for about one week plus and seem that not cure after I took 2 days MC. It's time for me to think whether teaching profession is my future job or not. My cough and lost voice were quite often and make me can't really perform well even in my profession recently. Anyway, I need to think more deeply now and need to make a decision at the end of the year. I was disappointed because can't attend my last class at UM today. This is because the cough that I have now still make feel uncomfortable whole day. Oh my goodness, doctor ask me not to talk for 2 days and it was impossible not to talk as my profession required me to do so.....

Last day of my class- Last module in UM

Today is a special day because my last day of DL course by Dr. Tee. I remembered last Thursday which I mentioned to Khor that today is the last day for us to meet. I am going to finish my last module-DL( my elective course) today. It was a great experience to have all this friend around during my university life. I am sure won't forget the memorable time which make us stick together and rush for the assignment, meet the time limit and stress from the job and all kinds of experience.

If you ask me what I have learned throughout my 2 years uni life at UM. My answer is the maturity of facing and solving all kinds of problem. God always grant me with His grace and abundant love. It make me feel like being embrace with my friend's love and care along my way at University.

Presentations on 9 April 2009

9 April 2009 was a special day because it was our presentation's day. Khor and me were the first group to present our project. It was a big challenge for me and Khor to prepare this project because due to the time constraints, we have to distribute our according to our expertise. But frankly speaking, I really learned a lot of thing from Bee Hua ( Khor) based on her experience in nursing. Even we are from a different expertise, I noticed that we can work together and cooperate to come out a product. This is not easy because the process we experience and run through quite tough. Thank God for His grace to grant me and Khor to finish it by the end of the day.

In fact, I got a chance to observe other group presentation ( Chun, Hana, and a foreigner who I can't remember his name all the time). They were really given their best to present even a lot of queries and questions from others. But one thing I noticed was the observer sometimes not really understand the concept of the presenter idea, so it was a lot of Q and A time during the presentation and they dared to ask and find out the answer. It was a question mark which was come to my mind that do my teaching at school not really understand by student and they were not dared to ask during the teaching and learning session. Then come to the evaluation time, they can't managed to do well. Why I got such thinking?? because last week class test which I set for my student and I noticed that they can't answer and scored in certain area which I expect which they can do it. It was quite sad because all the important part I highlighted to them in the begining, but they still can't managed to do well. Even many times I asked them whether any section they are not understand or not clear, but still no respond from them. So, I need to involved them in active learning and make them dared to ask question which they don't understand and clear. Hopefully, the problem can be settle and solved.

9 April 2009 also a bad day for me because I got back my Wiki reflection and I got a B-. I felt sad and disappointed not because of the mark only but I noticed that my thinking not really in depth and what I understand just the surface only. So, I make a decision to reflect it again and think more deeply for every kind of situation. Dr. Tee is a good teacher and every kind of suggestion which he gave me make me feel like...wow, I really need to improve myself no matter how because I need tooo....Sometimes I really need someone tell me straight forward what I really need to improve....in my uni life, I learn how to think more through Prof. Raja and Dr. Tee class because they make me think and think....I know it was late to reliazed my weakness point and the improvement point, but will learn more in future, learn from my mistake and not to repeat the mistake again. One more thing, learn how to stand at my student point of view and tried to understand them and know their needs. This is a lesson which I need to do in future. Thanks Dr.Tee and Prof. Raja for all the patient and encouragement. May God bless you.

Wiki

I was flooded by the summarize of the wiki info yesterday. It was a bit complicated expecially come to the activity A,B and C. I really need time to think and to digest all the table in the activities. Everyone seem like filled with too many info at the same time ( cognitive overload which just learned from the multimedia class and Bee Hua like it very much), some of them also suddenly awake and reliazed the facts that the actual purpose of Dr. Tee for the wiki, somebody like me was swimming in the pool and hope to get something to rely on....(nearly die)...haha. I was interested in the story of flog and fish. It was a good example for us as a educator to think about our learner need and their world. Sometimes, my mind will fill with a lot of thing which is out of the context because I like imagination, like to think about something might not be exist or will exist, who know..... Educator might think that he or she must achieved the objective at the end of the lesson but they didn't reliazed whether the student have the same aim and goal with us to achieve the objective. The educator was so happy after finish a lesson but as a learner, they will think learn nothing because what the learner need and their perspective not yet reach and achive. That is a big problem for the education right now. Follow the actual procedure, we have to set out objective in our lesson plan in order to achieve it in one week, we sometimes won't care whether student really at the same track with us or not. After few weeks, then we only know that the learner learn nothing throughout the past few weeks, it was a bit pity for the educator.

Just share a little bit about the discussion yesterday. Demonstration is teacher centered or student centered. Everyone was given a different answer and mostly will say depend on the situation. For me, no matter it was student or teacher centered....the main point is to achieved the objective, right?

My thought about the class at UM

Hmmmmm,

I have joined the class since the the semeseter start at January till now even 2 days absent. My view towards this class were

1. Not active but not passive...it was average compared with the class I join last time
2. A lot of people like Lim, Kak Hana, Chun really support the class no matter how busy they are, expecially the wiki. I can see thier name all over the blog. Even I am not really know them, from the style they have in the class, I know that they like to study and like to point out their view if they dont understand something regarding the lesson. Actually, I like this kind of people because I can learn through my observation from them, even I am not a hardworking person.
3. Khor is my classmate since my first day at UM...my classmate for psychology class under Firuz. Even all the people thought that Firuz class look like a hell but I dont have such point of view with them and I really enjoy the method of her teaching. I miss her teaching. I never have a teacher like her before and use such a different way to teach in the class, i really admired her capability and hope to learn something from her but she left finally. Even she left, I learn something tooooo...thankd God
4. Other classmate not really know them well so might not be given any comments.
5. Dr. Tee is a good lecturer that I never met beside Prof Raja and Firuz. The first day of the class make feel like a shock because of his teaching methodology. The level of his thinking was really high and high, man. Make me feel like wanted to continue my Phd to gain more knowledge like him. He seem like knowing everything, wow...fantastic.... and I am not expected Dr. Tee was so hardworking that see and look through all our blogs and comments time by time. This is the first time which I experienced and have a tough time too...haha
6. This is my final year at UM, I miss the campus life and I love to study and gain more experience expecially knowledge through my study, observation, my campus life, etc. It will never end for me as learning will be continue even I left school in my life.......thanks God for all these lovely friend and lecturer in my life.

New Wiki

What do you think of the new "how people learn" wiki?

The wiki was great, expecially the video. We learn how people learn, we know how people learn and at that time, we learn a lot through the video.

What helps you learn?

May be the video attract me more then writing. I will take inisiative to watch the video till the end, compared with wording. I will leave it if the passage was too long and beyond my understanding. Video is different because I can watch every movement, voice, sometimes may be got text..it really fun.

What gets in the way of your learning?

My curiousity, I love to discover expecially something which is related to my field or my interest. Honestly, DL not really in my field, that's why I always have my way back to Sabah during Lesson. Sorry, Dr.Tee..just from my heart. My characteristic was a bit funny because I love to discover stuff but not all the stuff I prefer to discover, I am sporting but not all the sport I like to play and join, sometimes I am quite but I am not really isolated myself from others....Hm, May be my family background brought me to this kind of characteristic.

Asynchronous and Sychrounous

Actually this two words always make me confused and till yesterday presentation, I only reliazed the different between this two words. I am using this way to remember

1. Asynchoronous - different time - blog, wiki, email etc
2. Synchronous- the first letter of this word is "s", so it meant the transfering data at the same time like telephone call, video conferencing, MSN etc

Throught the presenation last time, I only reliazed that Adobe Pro Connect can do like video conferencing because I was not going to school yesrterday because of I lost my voice two days ago, after the presentation, then I know what to for my absentism in school. This type of technology was good and can use widely in school. Next time teacher and student no need go school and can connect, learn and chat each other at home.

No class for me.....

For two times I didn't turn up for class because of some personal problem. Actually for these two weeks time, I start to think about a phase given by Dr. Tee- "How people learn". I am sure everyone got thier own answer and should be different from each other. For me, how I learn??? This is an easy question but hard to answer....in my perspective....

For me, How I learn??? I learned things through the enviourment surround me. Anything which is created by God in this world got a messege for us, which meant that we are free to learn things around us. No limitation. For an example: I like to see my grandmum get angry because from there I know the reason why my grandmum easy to get angry if me or my brother dont such thing to her. I don't need to ask my grandmum why she is angry???? But through her reaction after few incident, then I know and start to think the reason why she get angry. From there, I learn a lesson through an incident.

Hoe people Learn?

Actually this sentence had been posted quite some time and seem that we all really need to do a research about this title and how it work in our life indeed.

What do you think of the new "how people learn" wiki?
I just have time to go in the wiki and take a look just now. For me, it was quite a big task to complete. Look like mission impossible. Just for the point of view of mine for this time. The new wiki seem like design in a good way as we can learn step by step, follow the instruction in the wiki. Everything is clear and no cunfusion occured.

What helps you learn?
Actually what help me learn??? this is a good question and never think about it since I was standard one. Haha, coz forced to learn since that time. Honestly, the motivation came from my grandmum help me to learn so far. She is a kind and good grandmum who I really respect so much. Even I fail to achieve something in my life, the motivation which was given by her never fail. Unfortunately she pass away when I was standard six, and from that time, no motivation from any party even my dad and mum. But because of my grandmum encouragement, support and motivation when she was a live, it become my moto in my life. Beside that, surely in my heavenly father's support too.

May be you will think that I was so emotional in this case, but what can I tell in this context is nothing help me to learn despise of my inner motivation which from my grandmum and my heavenly father.

I know that I must learn and always remind myself that learning process never end if my life still goes on. That's why I always take up courses to improve myself in all kind of area.

Cheating and plagiarism

For me, I just know the surface of that 2 words ....

Actually the word plagiarism was first time which I heard during my first year master at UM. May be I am teaching Malay, that's why this kind of english seldom used and apply in my daily life.

Then, yesterday presentation sure give me more impact, expecially for the word of plagiarism. Just a simply definition, no cut and paste in our writing. One thing i might be more curious is there a machine used in UM to trace the validity of the student project paper or thesis??? How other university??? Was there possible all the univerisity got a tool to evaluate their student works???

My refelection and thought on Lesson 5 ( 12/2)

The instructional strategies which is mentioned during the presentation like drill & practice, demonstration, interactive instruction, experiential learning always practice during my lesson. But the most instructional strategies which I used is interactive instruction, like role playing, peer partner learning, cooperative learning and discussion. During the Teaching and learning process, we can try a lot of instrcutional strategies to enhance learning. No matter how to acheive the learning outcome is the main purpose of usinf variety of instruction strategies.

This semester, I had register my project with the title collaborative learning in designing a education game. I am agreed that student is very creative and always motivated specially by the instructional strategies which is using by the teacher in the class. So, I will try to use collaborative method to see the effectiveness of it to design a educational game.

No matter how, What student learn depends not only on what they are taught but also how they are taught. These beliefs require that much closer attention be paid to the methods chosen for presenting material.

Lesson 4

Today's lesson quite confusing because Dr. Tee used a lot of new term which I am not really understand...example : reintegration and subjectivity so and so..... but after that Dr. Tee gave a very good example regarding Lim...haha...then suddenly my mind like..wow...it was quite easy. Anyway, i was quite interested with what Dr Tee said...agree with agree and agree with diagree....

Even this is the fourth class, but look like a lot of homework and classwork need to be complete. I was suddenly like blur and lost because so many thing came to me....my school work, my research paper draft, my assignment.....wow, can't imagine that I look like a superwoman...haha

Anyway, Dr Tee is great. I like his teaching because it was quite different from other teaching style. No matter how, I really hope to learn a lot of stuff from him....kampateh, Dr Tee.

Portal Kementerian Pertahanan Malaysia - Distance learning education

Purpose :
E-Learning is a distance learning education programme (PJJ) jointly-organized between Malaysia Ministry of Defence and Tun Abdul Razak University of Technology (UNITAR). This programme was suggested by Defence Minister in several management meeting which was held and this programme was launched in August 2002.

Actually nowaday a lot of association, university, college were doing the Distance Learning education. It is designed to produce personnel who are innovative and creative especially in information technology.

Distance Learning Education programme will benefit the personnel of Ministry of Defence. This approach is taken because it will produce skilled and knowledgeable apprentices especially in the field of information technology. This programme will also provide opportunity especially for the other ranks to improve their readiness in the era of globalization.

Internet is used for each participant as medium of presentation for information between lecturer and participant. Nevertheless participant should also meet the lecturer on monthly basis. PXGT6308_2009 Lesson 2

This is our second class. Today seem like not many people turn up. We thought the rest had been dropped this course. But ended up, our friends turn up. Today's lesson only I knew that Distance learning and PJJ are differenced. And Hana shared that USM was using the video conferencing which is the student gain the info just by next door only....That's why we always think that Distance learning is really a distance occured for some people to communicate...like door to door communication, a lot of wrong concept was in our mind since we are young till now....

For me, before I enter this class, I thought PJJ and distance learning was the same. Not much different. Anyway, I really hope to know more about DL and heve a better concept after this course. Dr. Tee really a experince lecturer. The knowledge which he gained really help us a lot and I am sure will get more than what I think....

PXGT6308_2009 Lesson 1

Today is my first day at UM. It was quite excited because the campus look like quite new to me. Haha. My second class was Dr Tee class. When I saw him, he really gave me a shock because so far at UM, i have not been meeting any male lecturer for our department. The teaching method which is using by Dr Tee quite interesting and attractive. For me, I am a person who is easy to fall asleep and fly to another space. But, due to his teaching method ( I meant the first day witht he movie clip), I noticed that he is a techno person. He will used and recommed a lot of technology during the lesson. Wow, then be sure I will be fly half way and fly back because of the techno thingy.

Distance learning really is a quite new stuff for me because I never think of myself to take up this course. This time because of no choice, but have to take it before graduate. But after the first lesson, it was quite impressed me ..I meant the syllibus.....haha...and somemore 7 pages .....anyway, my friend Khor Bee Hua also keep telling me the techno thing which is in the movie clip really open her eyes...for me, i knew that kind of technology occured quite some time. But one thing I like this class is, the enviorment and the student + teacher for this course. All of them look like very enthusiasitic in whatever situation...
